Non-Surgical facial treatments

At some point, it's hard to ignore the vivid signs of aging you see in the mirror, little wrinkles around your eyes or lips, age spots, and maybe some sagging skin. There used to be few options for turning back the clock without going under the knife. But today, you can soften the effects of time on your face with many nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is a facial rejuvenation treatment that uses your own plasma to stimulate collagen production and cell migration, allowing for the elimination of lines, folds, and wrinkles. Results from PRP therapy are natural looking and subtle, and they can last for as long as two years.

Fillers:
The dermis gradually loses its key constituents, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, as we age, resulting in wrinkles, thinning, and sagging skin, as well as a loss of youthfulness. Collagen is our skin's main support protein, elastin helps our skin stay tight and wrinkle-free, and hyaluronic acid helps our skin hold water and add volume and form.

Dermal fillers are becoming more and more popular as a way to help reverse the effects of aging. Dermal fillers are non-surgical treatments that are injected just beneath the skin's surface to cure age indications without stretching the skin. Dermal fillers are used to restore the dermis to its former youthful state.

Dermal fillers are used to diminish or erase wrinkles, raise scar depressions, improve lips, and replace soft-tissue volume loss, and can produce a more natural appearance than surgical face lifts.
You may be a candidate for dermal fillers if you want a non-invasive technique to renew your face aesthetics and reduce the effects of the aging process.

DERMAL FILLERS TAKE CARE OF WHAT?
- Wrinkle reduction or eradication
- Replace the soft-tissue volume that has been lost.
- Increase the volume of your lips.
- Reduce the appearance of frown lines between the eyes.

* Aesthetic enhancements can last three months to five years, depending on the type of filler used.

BOTOX:
BOTOX Cosmetic is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that reduces the appearance of unwanted face wrinkles and creases caused by stress, hereditary causes, and the natural aging process. The BOTOX Cosmetic solution is made from Botulinum Toxin and has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of undesirable facial wrinkles and eye muscle problems.

BOTOX Cosmetic Advantages
Years of stress and worry lines can be removed with BOTOX Cosmetic. The following are some of the most common treatment areas:
- Along the top of the head
- In between the brows
- Wrinkles around the corners of the eyes called crow's feet

BOTOX Cosmetic is frequently used with other face surgery treatments, such as a neck lift to address sagging skin around the neck or eyelid surgery to elevate drooping eyelids. The level of cosmetic enhancements is determined by the aesthetic goals of the patient.

BOTOX® treatment candidates:
BOTOX Cosmetic is a popular non-surgical option for those who want to improve their face appearance. As long as you're not pregnant, as the effects on the fetus are unknown, you're in good mental and physical condition, and you want to get rid of it, you're good to go.

BOTOX INJECTION:
Dr. Bayad examines treatment options and assesses which face muscles might benefit the most from injections during an initial visit. The entire procedure is rapid and painless, requiring no more than an hour on average.

Recovery from BOTOX injections:
Unlike cosmetic surgery, BOTOX treatment has a quick recovery time. While it is not recommended that you lie down for many hours following the treatment or engage in heavy activity for the next 24 hours, you can resume most routine activities right afterward.

The effects of BOTOX Cosmetic might last anywhere from three to six months after the operation.

BOTOX's Potential Side Effects
Although the technique has been demonstrated to be safe, patients should be aware of any potential negative effects before progressing with therapy. These are some of them:

- BOTOX Cosmetic has caused an allergic reaction in some people.
- Headache that is only temporary
- a small amount of nausea
- Numbness or tingling around the injection site
- Swelling or bruising around the injection site is common.

The majority of these adverse effects can be prevented if a patient refrains from scratching the injection site for 12 hours after the surgery and chooses a reputable, qualified physician with considerable BOTOX Cosmetic experience, such as Dr. Bayad.

See Medical Applications of BOTOX for more details.

Thread Lift:

Thread lifts are a minimally-invasive treatment that can temporarily lift and tighten the skin on the face and neck, reducing facial lines and folds and improving the contour of the brow, mid-face, and jowls. Thread lifts are a revolutionary anti-aging treatment because they provide instant facial rejuvenation and beautiful, natural-looking results.

Chemical Peels:
Exfoliating Treatments:
One of the world's oldest and most effective cosmetic procedures is the chemical peel. Chemical peels were employed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to obtain smoother, more youthful-looking skin. In fact, Egypt's last pharaoh, Queen Cleopatra, is reported to have bathed in sour goat's milk to improve her skin more than 2,000 years ago. One of the acids utilized in current AHA peels is lactic acid, which comes from sour milk. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels–or, at least, the major chemicals in them–have been popular for eliminating dead cells on the surface of the skin (thus smoothing and renewing the skin) for a long time. They are made from naturally occurring acids found in fruits and other foods. Other commonly used AHA peels used citric acid (from citrus fruit) and glycolic acid (from sugar cane).

In this day of modern medicine and sophisticated technology, many of the same techniques that were used thousands of years ago are still used by esthetic professionals today.

Chemical Peels:
Many people want a simple approach to improve their skin without undergoing surgery or undergoing a facelift. Chemical peels are a common approach to improve the skin's overall condition, texture, and appearance.

The term "chemical peel" refers to a variety of non-surgical chemical procedures that exfoliate and revitalize the skin. Peels come in a range of shapes and sizes, each with its own set of perks and drawbacks. Chemical peels are classified into three types based on the chemical's depth of action: superficial, medium depth, and deep.
The skin is treated with a chemical solution that dissolves the upper layers of the skin. As the tissue dissolves, a wound forms on the skin, triggering the body's healing reaction and causing new tissue to grow. The depth and strength of the 'peel' depends on the chemical strength and the amount of time the solution is administered. In patients with dark skin types, every chemical peel must be handled with caution. Deeper peels can cause persistent light areas of skin in dark complexion types, which can be disastrous. Before undertaking any chemical peel technique, you must first speak with a skilled Dermatologist or physician. There are some parts of the skin that appear to be age spots may actually be early-stage skin cancers and can be masked by the chemical peel. Evaluation by a dermatologist may be necessary before any treatments are undertaken.

OBAGI-Blue Deep Peel (Trichloroacetic acid-TCA):
The top layer of dead skin cells is removed in this one-of-a-kind treatment, revealing the fresh and healthy layer beneath. It takes less than half an hour to complete the procedure. You should expect your skin to peel after 48-72 hours as cells begin to regenerate. After then, the findings are immediately evident. This technique improves the tone and texture of your skin by softening small wrinkles, minimizing superficial "age" spots, and other skin discolorations. TCA peels are also commonly used to reduce the appearance of acne scars.

After a TCA treatment, you'll generally want to give yourself a few days to recover. You should expect minor skin irritation, redness, and swelling right after the operation. Your skin will tighten and darken during the next several days, then crack and peel over the next 4 to 7 days, revealing a tighter, smoother, and more youthful-looking layer of skin. Because your skin's freshly developed layer will be more susceptible to sunburn for a few weeks, you'll need to wear an effective sunscreen to protect it. See Chemical Peels: Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
